Comments from the LCG Deployment Group

There are several reasons why the position of FIO and the experiments are very hard to fulfill at the same time. A short list of issues is given in appendix A.
We propose a different solution for sites that do not provide a shared file system for software distribution.
The experiments have to be aware that if they put software in a shared location the removal of the software has to be done at a time when the production manager is sure that this version is no longer in use.
Managing the dependencies can be very hard for the experiments, especially if the system is not installed using RPM.
